Civil Society Workshop "How to make EU trade policy more sustainable development oriented?"

9:00h to 16:30h (CET)

We warmly invite you to our online civil society workshop on “How to make EU trade policy more sustainable development oriented?”. The workshop will take place on November 3, 2020 from 9:00h to 16:30h (CET).

One objective of the workshop is to discuss EU trade policy with regard to its coherence to fulfilling the Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement. We will look into the new EU-Africa trade strategy, the post-Cotonou agreement and African initiatives, such as the African Continental Free Trade Area. We will assess them from a civil society perspective with regard to their effects on human rights and sustainable development. Another objective is to identify opportunities to influence EU trade policy and to develop key civil society advocacy messages to be communicated in ongoing trade-related policy processes. A specific focus will be on the collaboration of African and European civil society to make EU trade policy outcomes more conducible to sustainable development and human rights on the African continent.

You will find the link to the program here. Please register  here by October 29, 2020. The workshop will take place via Zoom. You will receive the dial-in details after registration.
