Introductory Online Workshop on Organic Farming

Karl Kübel Stiftung

28 October 2021, Time: 10:00 – 01:00 hours European Time (EST)

The concept of the Programme:

Organic farming often is associated with “no use of pesticides” by continuing existing farming practices. But organic farming is much more than just leaving out chemicals. There are useful methods to improve soil fertility, keep plants and in consequence animals healthy. However, these measures are much more demanding than “conventional farming” particularly it requires specific knowledge.

Donor organizations nowadays move away with their funding strategies from farming practices with high chemical input to sustainable and “low input” farming practices. The challenge is to stabilize or even increase food security according to SDGs.  Organic farming with agro-ecological approaches is the answer to reduce further environmental degradation by stabilizing food security. This Introductory online workshop on organic farming will answer the most frequently asked questions on what organic farming means. The seminar is a combination of specific input, individual and group work with guidance text, a discussion session, and a feedback round.
