Successful Projects, Sustainable Impact: Impact Orientation in Development Cooperation (Basic Module)

VENRO

Impact orientation ensures that resources are used efficiently, interventions achieve their intended objectives, and have a positive influence on the living conditions of local communities. Observing impacts focuses on identifying, describing, and measuring changes brought about by the outcomes of development cooperation interventions. On the project level, impact orientation means considering the effects of initiatives from the outset, in collaboration with partners and target groups. On the organizational level, it involves fostering learning through monitoring and evaluation processes.

Content

This basic module provides a solid introduction to integrating impact-oriented approaches into project and program work. Participants will learn to apply relevant impact analysis tools and effectively evaluate and present the results. Another focus of the training will be on how to ensure that the needs and perspectives of the target groups play a central role in the planning and implementation of impact-oriented projects. The aim is to equip participants with the understanding and practical tools needed to design and evaluate development projects that achieve sustainable and measurable impacts. Through inputs, group work, practical exercises, and joint reflection, participants will be empowered to analyse, plan, and measure the impact of their own projects.
