Anticipatory approaches need to be shaped in a participatory and inclusive way for margilised groups to be as effective as possible and to ‘leave no one behind’. In this workshop, you will discuss the particular challenges and dilemmas that anticipatory humanitarian action practitioners are facing with regard to the inclusion and protection of vulnerable groups. You will learn about promising pathways to address these challenges, such as community-based development of early action protocols or linking anticipatory humanitarian action to social protection schemes.

- How to be aware of the particular risks that vulnerable groups are facing in the context of humanitarian crises
- Which best practices are known to maximize participation and address the needs of vulnerable groups in anticipatory humanitarian action projects
- How to reflect on the challenges that anticipatory humanitarian action practitioners are exposed to with regard to meaningful inclusion of vulnerable groups
- How to develop a basic understanding of the potential linkages between anticipatory humanitarian action and (social) protection mechanisms

The seminar consists of two six-hour sessions. The sessions will be in English.

Facilitators
The workshop will be led by facilitators from Welthungerhilfe that combine various backgrounds of expertise and experience in AHA. Welthungerhilfe will be supported through inputs and facilitation support by various organizations including CBM, HelpAge International, Save the Children and the German Red Cross.
