On 1 January 2022, Germany took over the G7 Presidency. VENRO, the umbrella organisation of development and humanitarian NGOs in Germany and the German NGO Forum on Environment and Development have been invited to facilitate the Civil7 (C7) process. The Civil7 Summit on 4-5 May 2022 will be the highlight of this year’s C7 process. Over the past months, about 500 representatives from more than 40 countries have participated in the five Working Groups and contributed their perspectives to a joint political declaration. This Communiqué will officially be presented to the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Civil7 Summit. Representatives of international civil society will discuss the recommendations and topics of the Working Groups with representatives of the German Government and the G7 in different exchange formats.
We would like to invite you to attend the Civil7 Summit, which is planned as a hybrid event: The first day will take place digitally. The second day will be a face-to-face event in Berlin with a livestream. You can find more information about the programme here.
