Legal basics of protection in humanitarian action

24 - 26 February 2021, online

This seminar is offered by the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) of Ruhr-University Bochum and conducted under a joint project between IFHV and VENRO.

We would like to invite you to an online training on "Legal basics of protection in humanitarian action" on 24-26 February 2021 (2 full days and 2 hours follow up).

Even though protection is a core pillar of humanitarian action, it is often not entirely understood by humanitarian professionals and/or staff may feel insufficiently equipped in fulfilling their responsibilities in protection.

The training addresses NGO staff working in the field or at the management level. It seeks to provide participants with the knowledge and understanding necessary to recognize and address protection issues in their daily work, in particular in situations of forced displacement.

The training will be held by protection experts and experienced humanitarians Ed Schenkenberg van Mierop and Marzia Montemurro of the Humanitarian Exchange and Research Centre (HERE-Geneva). Participation is free of charge, but full participation expected. The number of participants is limited. The training will be held in English. Please find the training schedule and registration link here.
