Five years after the Grand Bargain came into being at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul in May 2016, the need for humanitarian assistance has increased worldwide, amplified by the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Grand Bargain’s objective to create a more efficient and effective humanitarian system in order to reach more people in need is more relevant than ever.
This event will take place shortly after the Grand Bargain Annual Meeting where the signatories will decide how to move forward with their commitments in a Grand Bargain 2.0. There is broad consensus on the need to narrow the focus and increase high-level political engagement. Localisation and quality funding have been identified as the two strategic priorities for the future Grand Bargain.
Still many questions remain and, together with our guests, we would like to explore the signatories’ proposal in more detail. What can we expect from a Grand Bargain 2.0? Which challenges remain for its implementation? How can we change roles and responsibilities in order to realise equal partnerships in humanitarian response? How can we ensure quality and direct funding for local actors?
Please find the programme below and register online until 17 June 2021. All registered participants will receive the login details shortly before the event. Please note that the event will be recorded for internal purposes. The event will be held in English. Participation is free of charge.
