Sustainability is under pressure worldwide: massive funding cuts, nationalist agendas, defamatory narratives, and repression against civil society actors create immense challenges. In our publication “Stay strong! Global goals need civil society”, we highlight what civil society has accomplished despite these obstacles: How civil society helped shape the Data Protection Act in India, recovered civic space in Ethiopia or paved the way for school nutrition from family farms in Brazil. We seek to inspire and motivate all those committed to sustainable development in their work and initiatives. Our recommendations build on the key demands of civil society organisations and encourage political decision-makers to pursue more sustainable and fair policies.
