Therefore, the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) invites you to the online seminar “The International Donor Landscape in Humanitarian Action” on 17, 21 and 24 September. During the three-day course, participants will get to know the most important actors and donors on an international level as well as recent trends related to the humanitarian system, such as localisation and the so-called ‘Triple Nexus approach’. In addition to this, they will also learn how to build an efficient funding strategy for a specific project or how to draft a concept note by engaging in practical exercises and case studies. Between the training days, participants get the chance to deepen the acquired knowledge through self-learning exercises or group work.
The training will be led by the experienced trainer Irène Sesmaisons who has been working in the humanitarian sector for 20 years. She is associated with the International Humanitarian NGO Bioforce that has trained tens of thousands of humanitarian professionals, many of whom are the leaders in the sector today, and is a global reference for humanitarian learning opportunities and solutions. The course is hosted by the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) of the Ruhr-University Bochum and is part of a joint project between the IFHV and VENRO.
The English language training is directed at humanitarian practitioners – and those aspiring to be – with little or no previous experience in project management. The target group encompasses (new) staff of humanitarian NGOs, newcomers, career path changers and (graduate) students. The course can be credited towards a Certificate of Advanced Studies in “Foundations of Humanitarian Action” at the academy for humanitarian action (aha). Please find further information on the certification program here.
You can find the agenda as well as register here from now on. Participation is free of charge. Given that the number of participants is limited, we kindly ask you to provide a short motivation statement upon registering and will inform you about final admission within two weeks after registration.
