Decolonising Development Cooperation: What does it mean and what can we do?
There is a growing awareness that development cooperation itself has its roots in colonialism and that this in turn is limiting progress towards global justice. An increasing number of civil society groups, activists and academics are paying closer attention to colonial attitudes and practices, racism and power imbalances that keep the sector from engaging in transformation processes. In this online event we present three recent publications that explore questions such as: How can we identify and dismantle colonial continuities? What are systemic factors that generate imbalanced power relationships? How can civil society actors in South-North collaborations (and in Germany) counteract colonial continuities? What role can German NGOs play in South-North collaborations to dismantle colonial continuities?
