HOW TO REDUCE THE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN HUMANITARIAN ACTION?

VENRO

Online seminar

Tue, 24 August 2021, 2 – 4 pm CEST

Climate friendliness and sustainability in the humanitarian sector are increasingly in the spotlight.

The seminar is part of a common project of the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) of Ruhr-University Bochum and VENRO.

Participants will learn how to identify, reduce, avoid and offset their environmental footprint in their humanitarian assistance. They will understand what challenges this involves and what changes in humanitarian action are needed in the future to consider ecological aspects in humanitarian projects. They will also get to know the “Environmental Stewardship Tool” that helps NGOs to consider environmental aspects in their programmes.

The seminar is aimed at humanitarian staff from international, national and local NGOs. Interested students and professionals who wish to enter the humanitarian sector are also welcome.

The seminar will include inputs from Katharina Bredigkeit (Klima-Kollekte), Arnina Beciri (master thesis on environmental mainstreaming) and Matthew Sarsycki (CRS/Environmental Stewardship Tool).

Participation in the event is free of charge. The session will be in English. Please find the agenda below and register online by 23 August 2021. After your registration you will receive a dial-in link for participation.
