Locally led humanitarian action: Stocktaking for NGOs

VENRO

18 and 25 January 2024, online

Locally led humanitarian action is widely discussed within the humanitarian sector. Expectations and ambitions among NGOs and even inside NGOs are diverse.

In this seminar, we would like to give staff of local, national and German NGOs the opportunity to discuss the current approaches to locally led humanitarian action in their organisations, e.g. in the areas of project management, institutional funding, partnership agreements or advocacy. The aim is to give orientation on current localisation debates as well as to identify successful approaches.

Content

This seminar was already conducted in March 2023 and will cover the same content.

We will discuss the following questions:

  • What is the current status on locally led humanitarian action in the participating organisations?
  • Which expectations on locally led humanitarian action do different NGOs have?
  • What are enablers for locally led humanitarian action?
  • What are internal and external barriers to locally led humanitarian action?
  • How to address them?

Target group

The seminar is targeted at staff of German and local/national humanitarian NGOs that are already familiar with the discussion on locally led humanitarian action and are engaged in institutional change management. We kindly ask German NGO colleagues to forward this invitation to their local and national partner organisations.
