Delivering Better Together – Partnering with Diaspora Organizations

Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV)

7 April 2022

9 am - 5 pm

Diasporas play a vital role in the humanitarian localization agenda, one of the main commitments under the Grand Bargain, considering their transnational identity and local ties. They bring in different capacities, values and approaches and can therefore contribute to a more relevant, efficient and sustainable humanitarian response.

The Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) invites you to the online workshop “Delivering Better Together – Partnering with Diaspora Organizations” on 7 April 2022 (9am to 5pm). It is part of a joint project of VENRO and the IFHV and financially supported by the German Federal Foreign Office. In this workshop, participants will learn about the latest findings on the role, benefits and advantages of diaspora and migrant organizations in humanitarian settings and discuss best practices among NGOs together with diaspora or migrant organization representatives. During the parallel sessions in the afternoon, participants are invited to choose among different topics and dive deeper into the areas of highest relevance for their respective working context.

The training is facilitated by experts from the “Diaspora Emergency Action & Coordination” (DEMAC) initiative. DEMAC is a global initiative aiming at enhancing inclusive coordination among diaspora organizations providing humanitarian assistance, and across diaspora organizations and institutional humanitarian actors. Representatives from different diaspora communities and organizations will deliver inputs and guide the participants through selected sessions.

The course is aimed at staff of humanitarian NGOs with solid working experience in the humanitarian sector as well as participants of previous trainings on localization of the IFHV-VENRO project.

You can find the agenda and register here from now on free of charge. Given that the number of participants is limited, we kindly ask you to provide a short motivation statement upon registering and will inform you about final admission within two to three weeks after registration.
