Green Humanitarian Standards and Tools

Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict

30 November and 1 Dezember 2023, online

Sustainable and environmentally reasonable “green response” approaches become more and more critical for humanitarian practitioners. Therefore, this online training gives you the opportunity to learn how to confidently use at least one green response tool and get vital information about three more, including “NEAT+” and the IFRC “Green Response Guide”.

Contents

  • The background to green response and awareness of key commitments that humanitarian organizations and donors have made to environmental sustainability.
  • What tools are available to help you improve the environmental outcomes of your projects and programmes.
  • How to select the green response tools and guidelines that meet your needs best in your work, with respect to donor requirements.
  • How to apply the described tools in your own work to reduce the carbon footprint and improve environmental sustainability.
  • The limitations and biases that are inherent in all tools and guidance and how to contextualize those to meet local needs.

The training is targeted at staff of humanitarian NGOs with several years of professional experience.
