Projects in development cooperation often focus on providing services to marginalised communities. While this is important, many NGOs realised that the partnerships between NGOs from the Global North and South should seek to influence decision makers and strengthen Southern NGOs to advocate for change. Our recently published NGO-Report “We get involved – Advocacy in development co-operation of non-governmental organisations” (available in German and English) shows examples of different advocacy strategies and approaches of Northern and Southern NGOs, their successes and challenges.
What makes advocacy projects successful? How can NGOs tackle challenges? What does effective co-operation between NGOs from the Global South and North look like? In the online event we will discuss these questions together with advocacy practitioners. Participants are invited to share and discuss their questions, challenges and good practices. The event is for NGO employees involved in development projects and programmes or advocacy.
