Transformative Project Work: Diversity and Power in Focus

VENRO
23, 24 & 29 June 2026, Online

Transformative approaches can help overcome patriarchal, colonial, and racist power structures. Transforming unequal power relations toward gender justice, participation, and diversity therefore represents a key factor for the effectiveness and sustainability of projects. The consideration of gender justice in development cooperation projects is embedded in our VENRO guidelines. We have also compiled many good examples of how VENRO member organizations implement a feminist transformative approach in their projects and institutional structures in our NGO report Feminist Journeys.

Content

In this seminar, participants will become familiar with tools for applying intersectional gender, power, and resource analyses, transformative project approaches, and strategies to promote diversity and intersectionality in project work. They will learn methods for implementing feminist approaches in projects and organizational structures, as well as for strengthening networks.

In addition, the seminar provides space to reflect on central questions of gender-transformative work: What steps lead from gender-sensitive to gender-transformative project work and organizational development, and what potentials arise from this shift? How can international cooperation be shaped in a partnership-based and power-critical way in the sense of Feminist South-led Development or Shifting Power?
