Artificial intelligence has moved quickly from novelty to everyday tool. For NGOs, though, the questions are harder than "which tool should I use?" What can AI realistically do for project work? Where does it genuinely add value across the project cycle? And what does responsible use look like when you handle sensitive data, work in difficult environments, and carry the trust of the people you serve?
This training gives you a practical foundation and the confidence to make your own decisions.
In Module 1 you will learn what today's AI tools can and cannot do, where they fit across needs assessment, targeting, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, and how to write prompts that produce genuinely usable results — working throughout on real tasks from your own projects.
Between the modules you will meet in small peer groups to try things out and compare notes.
In Module 2 you will define your own list of the tasks you will and will not hand to AI — and work through a short checklist for judging whether a particular tool is safe to use in your context: whether it fits the task, where your data goes, who owns it, and what it costs. If you want to raise the topic inside your own organisation, you will also leave with a one-page summary you can share with colleagues or management.
No technical background is required. Bias, data protection, cultural context and the Do No Harm approach run through the whole training rather than sitting in a separate ethics slot.
All registered participants could receive free access to AI4NGO's self-paced AI Literacy Course (available in English, German and French) upon request, to help everyone arrive with a shared baseline.
Trainer
Kate Lukien is Practice Lead for AI Adoption and Organisational Change at AI4NGO. She brings seven years of enterprise AI experience from Microsoft, where she led AI and Copilot adoption across the Nordics and Western Europe. She has delivered over 400 workshops — for groups of two to 500 — and more than 200 AI adoption engagements, and is a Prosci-certified change practitioner and author of “AI Adoption Without an IT Team”. Kate is based in Copenhagen and delivers workshops in English.
