Citizen and Community led Crisis Response

Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict

Integrating local response into short-term relief and humanitarian programming is not always an easy task. Based on years of practical experience and tests by multiple organisations in different crises around the world, the survivor and community-led response approach developed by the Local 2 Global Protection Initiative offers one way to do it well.

On 26, 27, 30 November and 03 December 2020 (three full days and one half day) an online training on "Supporting Citizen and Community led Crisis Response" will be held by the Local 2 Global Protection Initiative, offered by the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV). NGO staff working as program officers, managers, sectoral specialists, quality and accountability experts or senior management staff are invited to join the training. Please note: participation by several staff working for the same organisation who then may work together during group work is encouraged. However, this is not a precondition - individuals joining the training are also very much welcome.

For more information on the Local 2 Global Protection Initiative please see here. The training will be jointly led by Simone di Vicenz and Nathalie Töpperwien Blom, both humanitarian practitioners and highly experienced trainers of the Local 2 Global Protection Initiative. The course will allow participants to understand local response in crisis context and to integrate elements of self-help into their organisation's programming.

Please find the detailed training schedule and registration link here. Registration deadline is 15 November 2020. Participation is free of charge. The number of participants is limited. The training will be held in English.
