Climate-Neutrality Transformation within NGOs: Step by Step towards greater sustainability

Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict

Moving towards climate-neutrality and environmental sustainability is essential for all organisations and requires a new way of thinking. Many humanitarian NGOs are already considering climate change impacts on their operations, but what could be the first steps towards climate neutrality within their organisations?

Target group

Staff of German humanitarian NGOs and their partner organisations with a specific interest in ecological concerns. Prior knowledge on the topic is not required.

Contents

In the two-day intensive training, the participants will understand how to transform NGOs toward climate neutrality. They will learn how to identify main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and how to use widely accepted GHG accounting tools. Furthermore, our experts will teach the participants how to set and realistically achieve sustainability goals within the organisations.

Trainers

The training will be led by experienced trainers and humanitarians Andrea Dekrout, Gavin Reynolds and Caroline Gardestedt. All trainers have years of experience in green response and have worked with UNEP, IFRC, the EU and CARE.
