Decolonial Feminism – Perspectives on Development Cooperation
VENRO and its member organisations have been working on feminist approaches to development cooperation for several years, recognizing the necessity for integrating decolonial perspectives into the discussion. Only with a comprehensive understanding of decolonial feminism, can we contribute to the dismantling of patriarchal, colonial, and racist power structures, and advance a more just and equal world.
In this workshop, we aim to explore the decolonial feminist perspective and its application in development cooperation.
Content
After introducing the framework of Germany’s Feminist Foreign Policy and our NGO Report “Feminist Journeys”, we receive an input from Rosebell Kagumire on Decolonial Feminism and talk about power in development cooperation. The workshop then offers a space for exchange and discussion on concrete steps and recommendations for German Civil Society to integrate.
Our Offer
1. Opportunities for learning and on decolonial feminism and its practice in development cooperation.
2. A self-moderated safe space for partner organisations, to reflect in a secure and respectful environment.
3. The chance to gather perspectives from partner organisations on decolonization and feminism, which will be shared at the upcoming VENRO Forum.
