Many German INGOs have over recent years included safeguarding on their agendas, looking at implementing preventive, detection, and response measures. An essential element of how to respond well is to ensure that organisations take a trauma-informed, survivor-centred approach. Referrals to trauma-informed services can bring hope, empowerment and support that reduces re-traumatisation.
In this interactive workshop, we would be exploring the background into safeguarding in the international development sector, the indicators of harm, the challenges of disclosure and how to manage disclosures, building an organisational culture that is survivor-centred in its approach to keeping people safe. We will use mixed methodologies to highlight good practice through peer learning.
This workshop is aimed at employees of INGOs working in the development sector, who have responsibility for safeguarding, e.g. safeguarding leads or focal points, programme advisors and managers, HR managers or designated safeguarding officers.
The seminar consists of three face-to-face training days. The sessions will be in English.
First Training day: Monday, 9 October 2023, 12:00 -5:00 pm, CEST
Second Training day: Tuesday, 10 October 2023, 9:00 am -5:00 pm, CEST
