Background
Persons with disabilities are often not considered part of the general target group in the humanitarian response. Within the assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluation phase of a project, persons with disabilities are often not consulted nor actively engaged in decisionmaking. This results in a lack of protection and risks of being excluded from humanitarian services. Therefore, training will answer the following questions:
- How is disability understood?
- What are the factors that may put persons with disabilities at heightened risk in a humanitarian response?
- What key approaches should humanitarian programmers consider?
- What are key practical recommendations and promising practices?
- What are key resources for an inclusive humanitarian response?
Methodology
The training will include a mix of input presentations, group and scenario working sessions, plenary discussions, open knowledge and experience exchanges. Following the workshop, participants receive certificates, recordings and training materials.
Application
