Knowledge management: Using knowledge successfully for my organisation and project work

VENRO
12, 16 & 17 March, Online

Organizations rely heavily on staff experience, yet valuable knowledge often remains informal or gets lost in daily work. Effective knowledge management helps capture, structure, and share this expertise to improve learning, project quality, and organizational effectiveness. This training provides essential concepts and practical steps for introducing knowledge management in one’s own organization.

Content

This training addresses the challenge of preserving and sharing valuable knowledge and experience within German NGOs and their partner organisations. Participants will explore practical methods and simple tools for generating, capturing, organizing, and sharing knowledge within their existing workflows and structures. The course also highlights key roles and responsibilities necessary to embed knowledge management effectively in an organization. Through a step-by-step approach, participants will learn how to apply these concepts in their own organizational context, reflecting on potential challenges and opportunities.

Key questions

  • What are the prerequisites for effectively implementing knowledge management in organisations?
  • Which knowledge management steps need to be considered in the project cycle?
  • What can be done to capitalize valuable and relevant experiences from staff, share them and make the best possible use of them for development policy work and project management?
  • How can I apply what I have learned in my organisation?
  • What can we learn from each other?
